Jul 20,  · Overall, the swing, quantization, velocities, shift/delay and note lengths all play a role in the overall groove. Create your own templates and settings for later use when you find a groove you really like and apply those to future projects. Those settings will help you humanize your drums and keep your beats from sound lifeless on the grid.

    2) I do a lot of big-band arranging. It would be nice to have a series of fills that “set up” hits on beat 2, the “and” of 2, beat 3, etc. Also, I would like a series of hits on the “ands” of -2 & -4 as well as a series of hits on a dotted quarter cross rhythm. These are all common rhythms in the big band swing vocabulary.
